Advancing terrestrial biodiversity monitoring with satellite remote sensing: New EuropaBON paper

A recently published article titled “Advancing Terrestrial Biodiversity Monitoring with Satellite Remote Sensing in the Context of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework” is now available in the Ecological Indicators journals. Co-authored by W. Daniel Kissling of the University of Amsterdam and a member of the EuropaBON consortium, the paper highlights a significant step in biodiversity conservation and monitoring. The paper showcases the potential of Satellite Remote Sensing (SRS) for tracking conservation progress, emphasising the need to tailor SRS products to meet the requirements of ecologists and policymakers. In this viewpoint article, the authors propose an approach to enhance SRS products focused on terrestrial biodiversity for tracking goals within the Kunming-Montreal global biodiversity framework.
