For more information about the position and how to apply see <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vacatures.uva.nl\/UvA\/job\/Postdoc-Acoustic-Biodiversity-Monitoring\/794869002\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/vacatures.uva.nl\/UvA\/job\/Postdoc-Acoustic-Biodiversity-Monitoring\/794869002\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PostDoc in LiDAR habitat monitoring<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (<a href=\"https:\/\/ibed.uva.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IBED<\/a>) at the University of Amsterdam is looking for an ambitious and highly motivated Postdoc in LiDAR habitat monitoring for a 30-month (2.5 year) position within the European-funded project\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mambo-project.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MAMBO<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chosen candidate will work on advancing and upscaling the automated calculation of habitat condition metrics derived from LiDAR based on country-wide airborne laser scanning surveys or site-specific drone flight campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A PhD in LiDAR, remote sensing, physical geography, Earth science, landscape ecology or a closely related field;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interest, passion and experience in using LiDAR data for ecology and biodiversity science;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exceptional quantitative skills and profound experience in processing LiDAR point clouds (e.g. scripting\/programming in Python) and handling of remote sensing datasets;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks and computational workflows;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) processing pipelines and parallel and distributed computing;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team (remote sensing, ecology, computer science; software engineering);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency in scientific writing and successful and strong track-record of publications;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to speak and communicate in English at an academic level;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work independently and self-motivated;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work experience in a European country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply for the position until <strong>16 June 2024<\/strong>.
