The vacancy involves research on biodiversity monitoring design, including models of Essential Biodiversity Variables to provide trend detection and attribution of biodiversity change to drivers, related to EuropaBON and the European Environmental Agency Topic Centre for Biodiversity and Ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop research on biodiversity monitoring design, including models of Essential Biodiversity Variables to<br>provide trend detection and attribution of biodiversity change to drivers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop research on workflows for Essential Biodiversity Variables that support automated species and habitat assessments for the Nature Directives and the Nature Restoration Law (in connection with the EEA Topic<br>Centre on Biodiversity and Ecosystems)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write scientific papers and policy briefs reporting the findings of the research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support project coordination activities in EuropaBON, including coordination of meetings and workshops,<br>and collaborate in the research with other projects of the group, particularly on Nature Futures scenarios<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in writing research proposals and student mentoring<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A scientific University degree (Diploma\/ M.Sc.) in biology, ecology, geography, environmental sciences, physics, computer science or related disciplines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A PhD degree in ecology, environmental sciences or related disciplines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent scientific publication record in ecological modelling, theoretical ecology, or biodiversity monitoring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated experience in ecological modelling in R, particularly in species distribution or taxonomic diversity modelling (including species-area relationships, generalized dissimilarity models and mechanistic<br>community models) and\/or in systematic conservation planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent English in speaking and writing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Apply latest by Monday, <strong>28 August 2023<\/strong> via this <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/apply.idiv.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further details about the vacancy can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.verwaltung.uni-halle.de\/dezern3\/Ausschr\/23_4_7650_23_D_verl.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Biodiversity Conservation group, led by Prof. Henrique Pereira is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join their team.
