The position entails a close collaboration with the co-leads and the network coordinator on various technical tasks associated with the 2023-2025 GEO Mountains implementation plan.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The position is an entry-level one and is positioned at the MRI Coordination Office at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unibe.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Bern<\/a>, Switzerland.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Undertake the ongoing development and maintenance of inventories of in situ observational infrastructure and other datasets, tools, and resources related to various disciplines applicable to mountainous areas around the world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search for and identify relevant datasets in the published literature, occasionally liaising with representatives of operational services, as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct statistical and\/or spatial analyses, including the graphical representation of results for reporting purposes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist the GEO Mountains co-leads and network coordinator with the logistical planning for events, as well as with the outreach and communications efforts to promote GEO Mountains activities and its products.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A Bachelor&#8217;s degree (or working towards a Master&#8217;s degree) in relevant disciplines such as Earth sciences or geomatics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in working with data and data management systems, GIS, and familiarity with data visualisation techniques.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of programming languages such as R or Python, and experience working with PostGIS, are highly desirable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work efficiently and independently, with excellent intercultural communication and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spoken and written proficiency in English is required, with proficiency in German and\/or French being an advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Application deadline: <strong>27 January 2023<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More about the position and how to apply you can find <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geomountains.org\/news-page-all\/138-geo-mountains\/2872-job-opportunity-geo-mountains-scientific-project-officer-0-4-0-6-fte\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEO Mountains are on the lookout for their new Scientific Project Officer.
